Our conditioningclasses work on a two-week rotational roster. Every second week our students will be lead and educated by the team from Insync Physiotherapy. They will learn basic anatomy and conditioning exercises to help build strength and deter injuries. Every other week they will improve upon their technique while focusing on their turns, jumps and progressions.
Our jazz classes focus on producing great technique in our students, and ensuring they are taught correct “old school” jazz. All of our teachers have their own distinct jazz style, allowing students to adapt to any choreography that is asked of them. Students will master turns, jumps, contractions, body isolations and step combinations. We also offer Commercial Jazz classes who want to experience sassier choreography.
Our musical theatreclasses enable our students to turn into a “triple theatre” performer, with the class focusing on singing, dancing and acting. In this class the students learn musical theatre repertoire while incorporating stylised dance to reflect the era.
Ballet is oftenconsidered the foundation of all dance forms. Our experienced ballet teachers aim to improve the students' strength, flexibility, grace and coordination. At Keilor Jazz Centre we offer Cecchetti Exam classes from Pre-primary to Diploma, which helps to build confidence and discipline in our students, and prepares them for a future career in dance.
Our tap classes are extremely fun, lively and energetic. Focusing on rhythmic sound patterns, these classes really help to develop the musicality and coordination of younger children. As our students progress and build their skills in the discipline, we encourage them to discover their own style by exploring traditional Broadway tap and street tap.
Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance, with fluid motion and movement. The students dance to current music and are encouraged to express their creativity and expression. Our aim during class is for the students to master their story telling skills through their movement and emotional choices. We find our students love this class as an outlet for any emotions they may be feelings.
Bringing its influences from the streets of New York, Hip Hop is one of our post popular genres we offer at KJC. Fast paced and fun, the warm ups consist of popping, locking and grooving to expand each dancers style and individuality. Each lesson they learn a new routine to current R&B music, eventually building to a competitive crew routine for competition, concert and promotional performances.
At Keilor Jazz Centre we offer two streams of acrobatics – Beginner and Advanced. All our classes focus on building the students’ strength, agility, balance and motor coordination. Taking influence from acro dance and gymnastics, our students learn skills to enhance their other dance styles while facing their fears and pushing their boundaries.
All of our singingclasses are one on one, and personalised to each individual student. From beginner to established singer, our teachers have the experience and expertise to work with all levels and capabilities. Our students come together to perform as a group at our end of year concert, where they will learn to harmonise and learn to perform as part of an ensemble and in a lead role.
